Going home from St George Hospital or St George Private

Kogarah is home to two hospitals that sit side by side, and plenty of St George babies are born in one or the other.

• St George Hospital – Gray Street, Kogarah. The main entry and drop-off zone are on Gray Street, with further entries on Belgrave Street and Kensington Street.
• St George Private Hospital – 1 South Street, on the corner of the Princes Highway, which has its own obstetric unit.

When you book a discharge pickup, let us know which hospital you're at and give us an estimated time. Discharges often run late, so just keep us updated. Your driver will arrive with a rear-facing capsule already secured with ISOFIX and top tether, and help with the bags while you carry your baby out. One of the shortest airport runs in Sydney

From Kogarah, Sydney Airport is often only around 15–25 minutes away, depending on traffic. The usual route heads along the Princes Highway or President Avenue to The Grand Parade, then follows the bay onto General Holmes Drive and into the domestic and international terminals.

A short trip is welcome news with a toddler who hates the car, but it can make the pickup timing tight. Your driver tracks your flight and can wait if you're held up. As Tom S. put it: "Airport pick up and drop off with baby seat was spot on."

You may have heard about the M6 motorway tunnels between Arncliffe and Kogarah. They're still under construction and have no confirmed opening date, so for now we use the existing roads and choose the best route for the traffic on the day. Read more about our airport transfers with baby seat.

• Hurstville – handy for St George Hospital appointments and city trips.
• Carlton – right next door to Kogarah, ideal for quick hospital and clinic runs.
• Brighton-Le-Sands – just off The Grand Parade, near General Holmes Drive.
• Bexley – easy access to the M5 East for trips to the west or to the city.

Child seats that meet NSW rules

Under NSW law, children under seven must travel in an approved child restraint suited to their age and size. Babies up to six months must be rear-facing. From six months to four years, a rear-facing seat or a forward-facing seat with an inbuilt harness is required. Children aged four to seven need a harnessed seat or a booster.

Regular taxis have some exemptions. Children over 12 months can legally travel with just a seatbelt if no restraint is available. We don't think that's good enough for your child. Every seat we use is AS/NZS 1754 compliant and fitted by a trained driver before pickup.

Specialist visits, school runs and cruise days

Not every trip is a big occasion. Kogarah families book us for follow-up appointments, paediatric visits and regular medical check-ups, as well as getting kids to school, sport and weekend activities.

For holidays, we also run to the Overseas Passenger Terminal and White Bay cruise terminals. If you have a larger group, our 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers can fit several seats side by side, with space for prams and luggage.
