Going home with your baby is a moment you will remember for years, and the drive should feel just as safe as the ward you are leaving. Our newborn taxi St George Hospital service collects families from Kogarah with a rear-facing baby capsule already installed, so you can walk out, settle your baby and head home without wrestling with straps in a car park.
We are based in Roselands, only a short drive from the Kogarah hospital precinct, and we take families home right across the St George area, the Sutherland Shire, the inner west and beyond. Whether you gave birth at the public St George Hospital or next door at St George Private, the booking works the same way.
Two maternity hospitals, one Kogarah precinct
St George Hospital is on Gray Street, Kogarah, and its maternity and postnatal care is in the Tower Ward Block. The hospital's own campus map shows the main entry on Gray Street with a drop-off zone, which is usually the easiest place to meet. We confirm the exact pick-up point with you when you book, as wards and entrances can change.
St George Private Hospital sits right beside it at 1 South Street, on the corner of the Princes Highway. Its main entrance is reached from South Street, so tell us which hospital you are in and we will plan the meeting spot to suit.
Paid parking stations on Gray, Belgrave and Kensington Streets fill quickly during the day, and short stays add up. A pre-booked ride means your partner does not have to fetch the car, pay for parking or leave you waiting in the foyer with a newborn and bags.
Newborn taxi St George Hospital: how discharge-day timing works
Discharge rarely happens at an exact time. You may be waiting on a paediatric check, a hearing screen, a final feed or paperwork from the midwives. That is completely normal, so we do not ask you to guess.
- Book ahead with your expected discharge day as soon as you know it, or even before the birth.
- Call us once you are signed out on 0426 779 775 and we will send your car.
- Message us if things change, such as an extra night for jaundice monitoring. We simply move the booking.
Because we run 24/7, an evening or weekend discharge is no problem. Your quote is fixed and includes the baby seat and any tolls, so a slow sign-out never changes the price you agreed.

Your discharge-day checklist
A little preparation makes the walk to the car easy. Before you call us, check you have:
- Your discharge papers, the baby's blue book and any medications
- A going-home outfit for your baby, ideally a one-piece without bulky padding
- A thin muslin or wrap to place over the harness once baby is buckled in, rather than under it
- Nappies, wipes and a change of clothes in an easy-to-reach bag
- Comfortable, loose clothing for mum and a pillow if you would like one
- The pram, bassinet or flowers you are taking home, so we can bring a car with enough boot space
If you have a toddler joining the ride, let us know their age and we will fit a second seat too.
The baby capsule is fitted before we arrive
NSW law requires babies under six months to travel in an approved rear-facing restraint. Taxis have some limited exemptions for older children, but for a newborn there is no shortcut, and a capsule that is installed hurriedly at the kerb is easy to get wrong.
Our rear-facing baby capsules meet Australian Standard AS/NZS 1754 and are anchored with ISOFIX and a top tether before pickup. Drivers are trained in correct installation and will show you how to adjust the harness so it sits snugly at your baby's shoulders. Seats are cleaned between trips and the car is sanitised. Gentle driving after a birth or caesarean
Your body has just done something enormous. After a caesarean especially, every speed hump and sharp turn can be felt. Our drivers take the smoothest route they can, brake early, slow right down over bumps and allow extra time for getting in and out of the car.
Many St George families head south across the Georges River into the Shire, or north along the Princes Highway towards Rockdale and Arncliffe. We avoid rushing these busy corridors, and if you need to stop for a feed or a breather on the way, just say so.
Twins and growing families
Bringing home twins means two capsules, two nappy bags and often a double pram. We can install two rear-facing capsules side by side, and our SUVs, 7-seaters and larger people movers give you the room for older siblings and a grandparent as well. See our maxi taxi with baby seats for bigger groups.
Once you are home, we can help with follow-up appointments and family outings too, through our newborn hospital discharge taxi and wider family transport.
As Jane D. put it: "In time, great communication, very fair price, and amazing service." When you are ready, book online or call us.

Is Baby Taxi Sydney part of St George Hospital?
No. We are an independent family taxi and chauffeur service based in Roselands and have no affiliation with St George Hospital or St George Private Hospital. Families book us directly so they have a car with a properly installed baby capsule waiting on discharge day. We confirm the pick-up point with you when you book.
Do I need to know my exact discharge time to book?
No. Book with your expected discharge day, then call us on 0426 779 775 once the midwives have signed you out. We send the car from there. If your stay is extended, message us and we will move the booking. Because we operate 24/7, a late afternoon or weekend discharge is fine.
Can you pick up from St George Private Hospital as well?
Yes. St George Private Hospital is beside the public hospital at 1 South Street, Kogarah, with its main entrance off South Street. Just tell us which hospital you are in when booking and we will confirm the most practical meeting point with you before discharge day.
Does my newborn have to be in a capsule in a taxi?
Yes. Under NSW rules, babies up to six months must travel in an approved rear-facing child restraint, and in taxis children under 12 months must be restrained. Our capsules meet AS/NZS 1754 and are installed with ISOFIX and a top tether before we arrive, so you are not fitting one in a hurry.
I had a caesarean. Can the driver help with bags and the pram?
Of course. You should not be lifting heavy bags after a caesarean. Our drivers load the pram, bags and flowers, give you time to get in and out of the car slowly, and drive gently over bumps. Let us know when booking if you would like extra time at pickup.
Can we bring our toddler and grandparents in the same car?
Yes. Tell us how many passengers there are and the children's ages. We can fit a baby capsule plus a toddler seat or booster, and our 7-seaters and people movers carry the whole family with room for a pram. Your fixed quote covers every seat we install.
