From Manly to Mona Vale, your child's seat is fitted before we arrive, so leaving the peninsula feels easy.

Booking a taxi with baby seat on the Northern Beaches takes a little more planning than in most of Sydney. Every trip off the peninsula funnels through the Spit Bridge, the Roseville Bridge or Mona Vale Road, and a taxi rank rarely has a capsule waiting. Baby Taxi Sydney takes that problem away: your child's restraint is installed and checked before the car pulls up outside your door.

We cover the whole peninsula, from Manly, Fairlight and Balgowlah through Dee Why, Brookvale and Narrabeen to Mona Vale, Newport and the Pittwater suburbs, plus Frenchs Forest and Belrose on the plateau. Whether it's a newborn coming home, an early flight or a day trip into the city, you get one fixed quote that already includes the seats and tolls.

Why pre-book a taxi with baby seat on the Northern Beaches?

The Beaches are wonderful to live on and notoriously tricky to leave. There is no train line, a trip to the airport always crosses the harbour, and a hailed cab with the right seat for a six-week-old is close to impossible to find at short notice.

A pre-booked car solves the two things parents worry about most:

  • The right seat, already fitted. Rear-facing capsules for babies, harnessed toddler seats and high-back boosters, anchored with ISOFIX and top tether and compliant with AS/NZS 1754.
  • A time you can plan around. We book around your flight, discharge time or appointment, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

If you have more than one little one, we can fit several seats side by side in a people mover. Read more about our taxi with child seat service across Sydney.

Coming home from Northern Beaches Hospital with your newborn

Most Beaches babies are born at Northern Beaches Hospital, 105 Frenchs Forest Road West in Frenchs Forest, beside the corner of Warringah Road and the Wakehurst Parkway. Car entry is off Frenchs Forest Road, and there are short-stay spaces near the main entrance, which makes a calm pickup easy to arrange.

Discharge times can move as the midwives and paediatricians finish their checks, so just let us know when you have a firmer time. Your driver arrives with a rear-facing capsule already installed, helps load bags and flowers into the boot, and drives gently home, whether that's five minutes to Forestville or half an hour to Avalon.

It also suits partners heading in for the birth and grandparents visiting from elsewhere in Sydney. See how our newborn hospital discharge taxi works step by step.

Airport runs from the Beaches: routes and timing

From the southern Beaches, the usual route to Sydney Airport runs along Military Road and over the Spit Bridge, onto the Warringah Freeway, through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel or across the Harbour Bridge, then down the Eastern Distributor. From Frenchs Forest and Belrose, drivers often head west on Warringah Road over the Roseville Bridge instead.

How long should you allow?

  • Manly, Fairlight, Balgowlah: around 40–55 minutes off-peak.
  • Dee Why, Brookvale, Curl Curl: around 45–60 minutes.
  • Frenchs Forest, Belrose: around 45–65 minutes.
  • Mona Vale, Newport, Avalon: around 60–90 minutes.

Weekday peaks, a Spit Bridge opening for boats or overnight lane closures can add time, and the Wakehurst Parkway can close after very heavy rain. Ongoing Warringah Freeway works have also changed some on-ramps. Our drivers know these quirks, and because tolls are already in your quote, the choice of route never changes your price. Visiting Manly with little ones

Plenty of families arrive on the Beaches as visitors: grandparents flying in, holidaymakers staying near the Corso, or cruise passengers adding a few days by the surf. The Manly ferry is a classic, but with a pram, a nappy bag and two suitcases, a door-to-door car is often the gentler option.

We can collect you from the airport and drop you straight at your Manly accommodation, or take you from Manly to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay or White Bay on sailing day. Our cruise terminal transfers include the same pre-fitted seats.

Bigger families and everyday Beaches trips

Beyond the big days, local parents use us for the regular ones: specialist appointments, rides to Brookvale or Warringah Mall when the car is in for a service, and weekend sport. Our fleet ranges from premium sedans and SUVs to 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers, with room for double prams, travel cots and surfboard-sized luggage piles.

Every vehicle is cleaned and sanitised, and child seats are cleaned between trips.

What NSW law says about children in taxis

In NSW, children under seven must travel in an approved child restraint suited to their age and size. Babies under six months must be rear-facing; from six months to four years, rear-facing or forward-facing with an inbuilt harness; and from four to seven, a harnessed seat or booster.

Taxis have limited exemptions: once a child turns one, they may legally travel in a taxi with just a seatbelt if no restraint is available. Legal is not the same as safe, which is why every car we send arrives with the correct seat installed for each child. Jane D. summed up her experience: "In time, great communication, very fair price, and amazing service." When you're ready, book online or call 0426 779 775.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book a taxi with a baby capsule to collect us from Northern Beaches Hospital?

Yes. Book ahead with your expected discharge day, then update us when the ward gives you a firmer time. Your driver arrives at the hospital on Frenchs Forest Road West with a rear-facing capsule already installed and checked, helps with your bags and drives you home at an unhurried pace.

How early should I book a Northern Beaches airport transfer for a morning flight?

Allow extra time. Manly to the airport is often around 40 to 55 minutes off-peak, but weekday mornings, Spit Bridge openings and roadworks can add more, and upper Beaches suburbs take longer. Tell us your flight time when booking and we will suggest a pickup time with sensible breathing room.

Do you pick up in Palm Beach, Avalon and the rest of Pittwater?

Yes, we cover the whole peninsula, including Pittwater suburbs such as Newport, Avalon and Palm Beach. These are longer trips, especially to the airport, so booking ahead is the best way to secure your preferred time. Your fixed quote already includes the baby seats and any tolls.

Does the toll on the Harbour Tunnel or Bridge cost extra?

No. Your quote is the price you pay and it already includes tolls, whichever harbour crossing your driver takes, plus the baby seats. There are no hidden fees, so a detour around traffic or a Spit Bridge opening will not change what you pay.

Can you fit three car seats for a family staying in Manly?

Yes. Let us know each child's age and size when you book and we will send a vehicle that fits the seats side by side, usually a 7-seater van or a larger people mover. There is also plenty of room for prams, travel cots and holiday luggage.

Is it legal for my toddler to ride in a taxi without a car seat in NSW?

Taxis have a limited exemption: children over one can legally travel with only a seatbelt if no suitable restraint is available. Babies under one must be in an approved restraint. Even where it is legal, a correctly fitted, age-appropriate seat is much safer, which is why we pre-install one for every child.
