Liverpool Hospital welcomes thousands of babies every year, and each family leaves with a new passenger who needs a properly fitted seat. Our newborn taxi Liverpool Hospital service arrives with a rear-facing baby capsule already installed, so you can walk out, buckle your baby in and start the drive home without stress.
Many south-west Sydney families go home to a full house, with grandparents waiting and older siblings excited to meet the baby. We make it simple to bring everyone along, with extra seats for brothers and sisters and space for all the bags you have collected during your stay.
Finding each other at Liverpool Hospital
Liverpool Hospital is on the corner of Elizabeth and Goulburn Streets in the Liverpool CBD. Its maternity services, including the new Birthing Unit in the Integrated Services Building, opened as part of the hospital's redevelopment. The hospital lists Entrance A on Goulburn Street as the best entry for maternity, with a drop-off zone there, while Entrance J on Burnside Drive serves the general wards.
With ongoing building works and several entrances, we confirm the exact pick-up point with you when you book or call on the day. Drop-off zones are for short stops only, which is another reason a pre-booked car that pulls up when you are ready works so well.
Newborn taxi Liverpool Hospital when you have older children
Coming home with a newborn and a toddler or school-aged child means more than one seat. We fit every restraint before pickup so nothing is left to sort out at the kerb.
- Baby capsules for newborns, rear-facing and suitable to around 12 months
- Toddler seats with a 5-point harness for children around one to four
- High-back boosters for children around four to eight
A grandparent coming along as well? Our 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers fit several seats side by side. See our maxi taxi with baby seats for larger groups, or our taxi with child seat page for everyday trips with the kids.

Why the seat is fitted before we arrive
NSW law requires children under seven to travel in an approved restraint for their age and size, with babies under six months in a rear-facing seat. Taxis have limited exemptions that allow children over one to use a seatbelt if no restraint is available, but legal is not the same as safe, and a newborn always needs a correctly fitted capsule.
Every seat we use is AS/NZS 1754 compliant and anchored with ISOFIX and a top tether by drivers trained in installation. Your driver can show you how to check the harness height and tightness before you set off. Seats are cleaned between trips and vehicles are sanitised.
When discharge timing keeps changing
On discharge day you might be told "this morning", then "after lunch", then "once the doctor has been round". Waiting for a paediatric check, a jaundice result or a final feed is normal, so we keep things flexible.
- Book ahead with your expected discharge day.
- Call 0426 779 775 once you have been signed out and we will dispatch your car.
- Message us if your stay is extended and we will reschedule.
We operate 24/7, including nights, weekends and public holidays. Because your quote is fixed and includes seats and tolls, a slow sign-out or a motorway route never adds to the price you agreed.

Smooth routes home across the south west
Liverpool Hospital sits close to the Hume Highway, the M5 and the Westlink M7, which makes getting home straightforward for most families. Our drivers favour the smoothest roads, brake gently and slow right down for speed humps, which matters after any birth and especially after a caesarean.
As a rough guide, Casula and Moorebank are usually around 10 minutes away, while Campbelltown and Leppington are often around 25 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic. If you need to stop at a pharmacy for medications or supplies on the way, just let your driver know.
Your going-home checklist
- Discharge summary, blue book and any prescriptions
- A soft, close-fitting outfit for baby; skip bulky jackets under the harness
- A muslin or light blanket to tuck over baby once buckled in
- Nappy bag with essentials, plus water and snacks for mum
- The capsule's sunshade or a light cover if it is a bright day
- Your pram, bassinet, gifts and hospital bags, so we can send the right-sized vehicle
Twins? We fit two capsules side by side and allow extra boot space for a double pram. Find out more about our newborn hospital discharge taxi service.

Where do you pick up from at Liverpool Hospital?
Liverpool Hospital lists Entrance A on Goulburn Street as the best entry for maternity, with a drop-off zone there. Because the hospital is being redeveloped and wards can change, we confirm the exact pick-up point with you when you book or when you call to say you have been signed out.
Can my toddler come home with us in the same car?
Yes. Tell us your toddler's age when you book and we will install a forward-facing seat with a 5-point harness, or a rear-facing option if suitable, alongside the baby capsule. Every seat is fitted before pickup so you are not adjusting anything in the drop-off zone.
Do you charge extra if discharge is delayed?
Your quote is fixed and includes the baby seats and any tolls. The simplest approach is to book your expected day and call us once you are signed out, so you are not waiting around. If your stay is extended, message us and we will move the booking.
Can the whole family fit, including grandparents?
Yes. Our 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers can carry several adults alongside multiple child seats, with room for prams and luggage. Let us know how many people are travelling and the ages of any children so we can fit the right seats and send a suitable vehicle.
Is it safe to travel home after a caesarean?
Follow your midwife's advice first. For the drive itself, our drivers take smooth routes, brake gently and slow down over bumps. Many mums like a small pillow between the seatbelt and their wound. Let your driver know how you are feeling and they will take it easy.
Can you collect twins from Liverpool Hospital?
Yes. We fit two rear-facing capsules side by side before pickup, and we can add a seat for an older sibling. Twins usually mean a double pram and extra bags, so tell us what you are bringing and we will send an SUV, van or people mover with enough room.
