A short taxi ride with a baby can turn into a long one fast: traffic on the M5, a delayed flight, or a wait at the hospital pickup bay. A well-packed nappy bag means you're ready for all of it without hauling half the house.
This checklist covers what to pack, what to keep on your lap instead of in the boot, and what you don't need to bring when you book a taxi with baby seat through us.
The essentials: change and clean-up
- Nappies. Pack more than you think you need. A good rule is one for every hour of the trip, plus two spare.
- Wipes. A full pack, not the last few in an old one.
- A change mat. Many hospital, airport and shopping centre parents' rooms have change tables, but a fold-up mat is handy for anywhere else.
- Nappy bags or a wet bag. For used nappies and anything that gets messy.
- A full change of clothes for baby. Plus a spare top for you, in case of spills.
Feeding and comfort
- Milk or formula. Pre-measured formula in a dispenser and a bottle of water travel well. If you're breastfeeding, a light cover or muslin helps.
- A dummy and a spare. Dummies always seem to roll under seats.
- Muslin wraps or burp cloths. Useful for spills, shade and as a light blanket.
- Snacks for toddlers. Choose ones that don't crumble or melt.
- A favourite toy or book. Something familiar helps settle little ones in a new car.

What to keep within reach, not in the boot
Once the boot is closed, getting to it means stopping the car. Keep a small grab bag on your lap or at your feet with:
- a nappy and a few wipes
- a dummy and a muslin
- a bottle or snack
- your phone and any hospital or flight paperwork
Everything else, like the pram, suitcases and the main nappy bag, can go in the boot.
Health and weather extras
- Any medicine your baby uses, along with the instructions.
- Sun protection. A hat and a muslin for shade. Sydney sun is strong, even through car windows.
- A warm layer. Air-conditioned cars, terminals and hospital corridors can be cool.
- Hand sanitiser and tissues.

What you don't need to bring when you book with us
When you book a taxi with baby seat through Baby Taxi Sydney, the right restraint for your child's age and size is fitted before we arrive: a rear-facing capsule for newborns, a car seat for toddlers or a booster for older children. That means you don't need to carry your own capsule or seat on a plane or through a hospital.
In NSW, children under 7 must travel in an approved child restraint suited to their age and size. Tell us each child's age when you book and we'll take care of it.
If you'd rather use your own seat, that's fine too. Just let us know so we can plan for it.

Do I need to bring my own baby seat for a taxi in Sydney?
Not when you book with Baby Taxi Sydney. Tell us your child's age when you book and we fit the right capsule, car seat or booster before pickup.
Can I keep the nappy bag with me in the car?
Yes. We suggest a small grab bag on your lap or at your feet with a nappy, wipes, a dummy and a bottle, and the rest in the boot.
Is there room for a pram and luggage too?
Yes. Let us know about your pram and bags when you book so we send a car with enough boot space.
Can you help with a trip home from hospital?
Yes. We do newborn trips home from Sydney hospitals with a rear-facing capsule fitted before we arrive.
