Few things test a parent's patience like a pram that won't quite go into a boot while a taxi idles at the kerb. If you're booking a taxi with baby seat and pram in Sydney, a little planning makes the difference between a smooth pickup and a stressful one.
This guide covers what usually fits in a sedan, an SUV and a larger van or people mover, how different pram styles fold, and what to tell us so the right car turns up with your baby's seat already fitted. Every pram and every boot is different, so treat this as a general guide rather than exact measurements.
Why the pram is the hardest part to plan
Car seats are predictable: you know roughly what each age needs. Prams aren't. Two prams that look similar on the footpath can fold very differently, and a bulky frame can fill a boot that would easily hold a suitcase.
The things that matter most are folded length, folded height, and whether the pram folds in one piece or needs the seat unit taken off first. Wheels, canopies, shopping baskets and cup holders all add bulk. Then there's everything else: the nappy bag, a travel cot, and suitcases if you're heading to the airport.
Measuring your pram when it's folded, and checking the brand's folded dimensions, takes two minutes and saves a lot of guesswork later.
Pram types and how they fold
- Compact or travel strollers. Often fold small enough to fit almost anywhere, sometimes with one hand. The easiest option for taxis.
- Standard single prams. Usually fold flat, but can be long and heavy. Some need the seat or bassinet removed before folding.
- Travel systems. A pram frame that clicks onto a capsule. Handy, but if we're supplying the capsule in the car, you may only need to bring the frame and seat.
- Side-by-side double prams. Wide when open but often fold reasonably flat.
- Tandem or inline doubles. Narrower on the footpath, but often taller or longer when folded, with two seat units to manage.
- Jogging and all-terrain prams. Large wheels and fixed front wheels can make them bulky. Some wheels pop off to save space.
Practise folding your pram at home before the trip, especially if it's new. It's much easier to learn in the lounge room than at a busy pickup zone.

What usually fits: sedan, SUV or maxi
Our fleet includes premium sedans, SUVs, 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers, all with large boot space for prams, double prams, travel cots and luggage. As a general guide:
Sedan
Usually fine for one child, a folded single pram or compact stroller and a couple of bags. It's a good fit for short trips around town.
SUV
The extra height helps with bulkier single prams and a bit more luggage. A sensible middle option when you're not sure.
7-seater van or people mover
The best choice for a double pram, a pram plus suitcases, a travel cot, or more than one child. Our maxi taxi with baby seats keeps everything and everyone in one vehicle.
Because pram sizes vary so much, the most reliable approach is to tell us your pram model when you book. We'll suggest the vehicle that suits it.
Booking a taxi with baby seat and pram: what to tell us
A few details help us send the right car the first time:
- Your pram brand and model, or its folded size if you know it.
- Whether it's a single, double, travel system or jogger.
- Your child's age, so we fit the right seat before pickup.
- Any extras: travel cot, suitcases, car-seat bags, scooters or balance bikes.
- Where you're going, such as the airport, a hospital appointment or a family visit.
You don't need to bring a car seat. We pre-install rear-facing baby capsules for newborns to around 12 months, forward-facing toddler seats with a 5-point harness for around 1 to 4 years, and high-back boosters for around 4 to 8 years. All are AS/NZS 1754 compliant and anchored with ISOFIX and top tether.

Packing tips for a smooth pickup
- Fold before the car arrives if you can, or have the fold ready to go.
- Empty the basket. Loose items in the pram basket tend to fall out mid-fold.
- Keep a small bag out. Wipes, a bottle, a dummy and a spare outfit should ride with you, not in the boot.
- Take off the extras. Rain covers, cup holders and toy bars can add surprising bulk.
- Pram in first, baby in second. Get the boot sorted, then settle your little one into the pre-fitted seat without rushing.
If you're flying, remember the pram may be checked in or gate-checked, so plan for how you'll carry your baby through the terminal. Our Sydney Airport with a baby guide has more tips.
Why a pre-booked family car makes it easier
A rank taxi or rideshare may turn up with a small boot and no baby seat, which can mean a refused trip or an awkward squeeze. With a pre-booked family service, the car is chosen for your pram and luggage, and your baby's seat is already fitted.
We run 24/7, 365 days a year, on a pre-booked basis across Sydney. Vehicles are cleaned and sanitised, and child seats are cleaned between trips. Pricing is fixed, so the quote is the price, including baby seats and tolls.
As A D said in a review: "They organised a driver for us within 30minutes. The vehicles were super clean." When you're ready, book online or call 0426 779 775.

Will my pram fit in a taxi?
Most compact strollers and many folded single prams fit in a sedan boot, but it depends on the pram and how much else you're carrying. Bulky single prams often suit an SUV better, and double prams or a pram with suitcases are usually easiest in a 7-seater van or people mover. Tell us your pram model and we'll suggest the right vehicle.
Can I book a taxi with a baby seat and room for a double pram?
Yes. Our fleet includes 7-seater vans and 11-seater people movers with large boot space for double prams, travel cots and luggage. We install the right baby seat before pickup, so you just need to tell us your child's age, your pram type and what else you're bringing.
Do I need to bring my own car seat as well as the pram?
No. We supply and pre-install rear-facing baby capsules, forward-facing toddler seats with a 5-point harness, and high-back booster seats, all AS/NZS 1754 compliant. If you use a travel system, you may only need to bring the pram frame and seat, since the capsule is already in the car.
Should I fold my pram before the taxi arrives?
It helps, especially at busy pickup spots like airports or hospital entrances. Empty the basket, remove extras like rain covers and cup holders, and have the fold ready. Keep a small bag with essentials out of the boot so you can settle your baby quickly once you're in the car.
What details should I give when booking a taxi with a pram?
Share your pram brand and model or folded size, whether it's a single, double, travel system or jogger, your child's age, the number of passengers, and any luggage or travel cot. These details let us choose a vehicle with enough boot space and fit the right seat before pickup.
Is a pram or extra luggage charged on top?
Our pricing is fixed, and the quote you receive is the price, including baby seats and tolls, with no hidden fees. The quote is based on your trip and the vehicle you need, so let us know about your pram and luggage when you book so we can quote for the right car.
