Hospital days with a child are tiring enough without wrestling a car seat into a taxi or circling for parking. Our taxi with car seat to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick service sends a car with a seat already installed for your child's age and size, whether you are heading to an outpatient appointment, a planned admission or collecting your child after a stay.

We collect from home anywhere across Sydney, from Sydney Airport if you are flying in for treatment, or from a hotel or family member's place. Your quote includes every child seat and any tolls, and the price is confirmed before you book.

Getting around the Randwick Hospitals Campus

Sydney Children's Hospital is on High Street, Randwick, on the same campus as Prince of Wales Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women. It is a big site with several entrances, so it helps to know which one you need before you leave home.

  • High Street: the main entries to the hospital's Building C and the new Bilima Building, which opened in November 2025. Light rail stops are just metres away.
  • Botany Street: vehicle access to the Children's Emergency Department, which has a dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone outside its entrance.
  • Barker Street: the visitor and patient car park, entered via the Easy Street roundabout, with a walk through the Prince of Wales Campus Centre.

Tell us which clinic or ward your letter names when you book, and we will agree the most sensible drop-off and pick-up point with you. Baby Taxi Sydney is independent and is not affiliated with Sydney Children's Hospital or the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

A seat matched to your child, not just any seat

In NSW, children under seven must use an approved child restraint suited to their age and size. Taxis have a limited exemption: children 12 months and over may legally use an adult seatbelt in a taxi, but a seatbelt alone is not designed to fit a small child. We take the age-appropriate route every time:

  • Rear-facing baby capsules for newborns to around 12 months.
  • Forward-facing toddler seats with a five-point harness for around one to four years.
  • High-back booster seats for around four to eight years.

All seats meet AS/NZS 1754 and are anchored with ISOFIX and a top tether before pickup. Give us your child's age, and their height and weight if they are between sizes, and we will bring the right one. More on our taxi with child seat in Sydney.

Taxi with car seat to Sydney Children's Hospital for appointments

Outpatient clinics often run to a tight check-in time, and the drive into Randwick can be slow in peak hour. From the Sydney CBD it is usually around 15 to 25 minutes, but from the west or south it can take much longer, so we plan the pickup around your appointment time with some breathing room.

Clinics can also run late. Let us know roughly when you expect to finish and we will confirm the return pick-up with you on the day. If you have more than one appointment in the same week, you can book them together.

Admission days and coming home after a stay

A planned admission usually means bags, a favourite toy, perhaps a pillow and a sibling who wants to come along. We can fit more than one child seat and choose a vehicle with room for everything.

Discharge day is different again. Your child may be tired, sore or simply over it, and you may have new medicines, equipment or paperwork to carry. Tell us anything that affects how your child sits or travels, and follow the hospital team's advice on whether they are ready for a car trip and how they should be positioned. We focus on what we do best: the correct seat, a clean car and a calm, steady drive home.

Flying in to Sydney for treatment

Families from regional NSW and interstate often fly into Sydney for appointments at Randwick. Randwick is close to Sydney Airport: the drive is usually around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic, often via Southern Cross Drive.

Instead of bringing a car seat through the airport, book an airport transfer with baby seat and we will have the seat installed before you land. Samantha W. told us: "We had a 40 minute wait on the tarmac and our driver was waiting patiently for us."

Siblings, prams and booking

Many hospital trips involve more than one child or a pile of gear. Our sedans, SUVs, 7-seaters and people movers can carry several child seats side by side, plus prams, wheelie bags and anything the hospital sends home with you. Every seat is cleaned between trips and every vehicle is sanitised.

We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by pre-booking. Call 0426 779 775, email bookings@babytaxisydney.com.au or book online.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Sydney Children's Hospital's transport service?

No. Baby Taxi Sydney is an independent family taxi and chauffeur service. We are not affiliated with Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick or the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, and we do not provide patient transport or medical care. Families book us directly when they want a car with the right child seat already fitted for a hospital trip.

Where can you drop us off at Sydney Children's Hospital?

The hospital's main entries are on High Street, Randwick, and the Children's Emergency Department has a drop-off and pick-up zone reached by car via Botany Street. Tell us the clinic or ward on your appointment letter and we will agree the most practical drop-off and pick-up point with you before the day.

My child is over one. Do they really need a car seat in a taxi?

In NSW, children 12 months and older may legally travel in a taxi using a properly fastened seatbelt, but adult belts are not designed for small bodies. An approved, correctly fitted seat for your child's age and size is the safer choice, which is why we install a harness seat or booster before every pickup.

Can you wait for us or come back after the appointment?

We are a pre-booked service. When you book, give us your appointment time and roughly when you expect to finish. Because clinics often run late, we confirm the return pick-up with you on the day so you are not rushing out of the consultation room. You can also book return trips for several appointments at once.

Can you collect us from Sydney Airport and go straight to the hospital?

Yes. Many regional and interstate families do exactly that. We meet you at the domestic or international terminal with the child seats already installed, then drive you to Randwick. The trip is usually around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Tell us your flight details when you book.

Do you give medical advice about travelling after surgery?

No. Questions about whether your child is ready to travel, how they should sit, or how to manage pain, casts or equipment in the car are for the hospital team. Tell us anything they recommend and we will bring the right seat and vehicle and drive gently. Our job is safe, comfortable transport.
